RHEINLANDS REITER-PFERDE, 10/2003 edition:
2003 Federal Championships at Warendorf Apart
from various headlines, the class of four years old riding stallions
has certainly represented sensational result for the Rhineland. Next to
the excellent Belissimo, the top level Rhineland stallion Lord Loxley
of Lord Sinclair - Weltmeyer also acquired an enormous fan club and
formed the topic of many discussions. Lord Loxley, which comes form the
Belgian Sonnenhof stud, succeeded in gaining the German fourth place
among 4 years old stallions and was able to be shown off in an
excellent manner by Jana Freund. Many interested persons examined first
and foremost Lord Loxley and astronomical sums were offered for this
top-level stallion. Its excellent first promotion as a foal also
underlines the importance of this Rhineland animal.

RHEINLANDS REITER-PFERDE, 9/2003 edition:
First promotions of Lord Loxley and PradoHere we must mention,
in particular, two stallions, which are presenting their first
promotions at different exhibitions and which attract attention on the
basis of their classification given on receiving approval and on the
basis of the results, which they have secured up to this date.
Prado The Rhineland
stallion, reserve champion of the 2001 principal approval, bred by
Heinrich Willmsen, Kerken, the breeder of Sonnenhof, Saint-Vith in
Belgium, now owned by the national stud of Warendorf in North Rhine
Westphalia and numbered among the most promising young stallions in
North Rhine Westphalia. This stallion, borne by a Lancer II dam, has
succeeded in impressively winning the 30-day test, once again
justifying its high mark gained in the 70-day test. Prado was borne by
a highest-level dam, but the latter had left on the one hand, a lasting
impression at competitions for mares and on the other hand also
successfully represented Rhineland as a national prize-winning mare at
the Federal mares’ exhibition. The very interesting combination of top
level stallions Polydor, Frühling and Lancer II, linked to character
and to pre-disposition, involved, from the first year, a complete list
of mating at stud, its second year of mating at stud also being
virtually complete. Since Westphalia began holding a little earlier
exhibitions of foals, our partner group received good news, since
Prado’s first foals seen in Westphalia occupy top places almost without
exception and receive very good assessments. At the first Rhineland
exhibitions it was also possible to see Prado’s foals, which are
generally distinguished by their type and their sporting appearance.
Some very good foals accordingly took the highest places in the Viersen
area and in that of Mettmann. The majority of the foals were
understandably presented in the district de Kleve at the exhibition of
Goch-Heidhausen, where some 20 of Prado’s foals gave an excellent
glimpse of their qualities of breeding. For a very modern character and
a very remarkable bearing, one would have wished to see here and there
rather more alignment, some foals might have walked more dynamically,
but this would have meant excessive expectations, since experience
tells us that the jumping ability of Prado’s progeny will surely be put
forward, including the choice of the mated mares. In general, it is
possible to speak of a very pleasing first promotion, with no fewer
than four foals able to be admitted to the elite sales.
During the exhibitions, numerous foals changed owners. The foals are
highly prized because of their excellent line of descent from jumpers.
It is hoped that Prado, which, as has already been said, was so well
exploited in 2003, will retain its place at Goch-Heidhausen, because it
was noticed that stallions, which passed long periods at Heidhausen
have always been successful. The sober and correct work and the
experience of the manager of the riding station, M. Koller, will
certainly ensure that Heidhausen will not lose its importance in the
future.
Lord Loxley The son of Lord
Sinclair, Lord Loxley who generated so much talk about himself at the
time of the process of the 2001 principal approval, was borne by dam,
whose sire had been the great Weltmeyer, The winner of the Federal;
Championship and sire of dressage horses which achieved successes up to
the Grand Prix, Weltmeyer gained Europe-wide importance as the sire of
dressage horses and for that reason the progeny of the excellent
breeding horse Lord Loxley was awaited with interest This year, the
latter, a four years old already in his third year of recording
successes in championship trials as well as in the national competition
sport, has been able to carry lasting conviction against the most
capable of his rivals and to dominate dressage competitions. This
stallion which is steadily becoming more beautiful and remarkable as
time passes and which is a resident of the Wilbers de Weeze station was
bred by the Sonnenhof stud at Saint-Vith in Belgium. The dam of Lord
Loxley has borne several foals by different sires, all of which without
exception belong to the top category. During recent years, the first
son of Weltlady, descended from Lauries Crusador xx, won riding horse
competitions and dressage trials. Other descendants of the mating with
Rohdiamant and Jacquare were high category foals and won the national
prize for three years running. In recent times, all the foals borne by
this mare have been highly prized, rendering the dam of Lord Loxley
particularly important. In view of all this information, the kind of
progeny, which would be produced, was naturally awaited with a great
deal of interest. The foals appeared at numerous exhibitions, but
mainly at Goch-Heidhausen. The best index of their high quality was
represented by the numerous sellers of the foals of Lord Loxley, bred
in large numbers by well-known stallion breeders. All the foals
exhibited a very striking movement, which was well above average. A
sometimes rather stiff neck and withers show very clearly that the
foals had been borne by noble dams possessing an identical part of
Trakehner or of a thoroughbred. In general, this confers on the foals a
strong, overdeveloped, highly dynamic frame. The lasting success of
Lord Loxley at competitions will certainly cause its progeny to remain
highly prized. It is heartening to find that that a particularly
attractive foal of Lord Loxley was able to be included in the auction
sale, which certainly represents the best possible publicity for
Münster-Handorf stallions. This year, as in 2002, Lord Loxley will
represent Rhineland at the Federal Championship and in view of its top
category dressage skills, its presence at dressage horse trials at
Warendorf over the coming 5 or 6 years is also more than probable.

Competition of mares at Wickerath – an excellent ambiance in a sunny chateau park
The
mare, which won the station competition, was a three years old daughter
of Riccione borne by an already approved dam o Weltmeyer who had
already produced Lord Loxley. Ricciona was the result of the first
promotion of Riccione, who had already produced the reserve winner of
the 2002 principal approval. The three years old winning mare had been
bred by the Sonnenhof stud in Belgium. It had been bought as a foal
from the studbook kept by the present proprietor, the Michels family in
Heimbach.
Ricciona, the station competition-winning mare from the first promotion
of Riccione. The dam of Ricciona, Weltlady, daughter of Weltmeyer had
already furnished numerous well-known national prize-winning mares, as
well as an excellent progeny, such as, in particular, Lord Loxley of
Lord Sinclair, an approved stallion presenting its first promotion.

The principal BRW approval at Münster-Handorf received brilliant reviews
Also
shining at the VTV Championship, as well as during its appearances at
competitions, the prize-winning stallion Louis Le Bon of Lancer II –
Mephistopheles, bred by the Sonnenhof stud at Saint-Vith was an
excellent promotion of a foal in 2002.
